Behind the wall there is a small city that runs for four days: engineers reading telemetry, drivers climbing into the car, mechanics changing a front wing in forty seconds. Being in there teaches you the race in a way television never will.
Access comes in layers, and they cost and deliver different things. Paddock Club is hospitality with a view and full service. The garage means entering the team own space, almost always through a sponsor. A grid walk puts you on the track in the twenty minutes before the start, among the cars. And there is the lap of the circuit, which few get and nobody forgets.
