Destinations
Places read end to end.
Visited houses, the right window of the year and itineraries built, destination by destination.

Rio de Janeiro, beyond the postcard
Three, four or five days: Copacabana Palace and Fasano, Lasai and Oro, helicopter, speedboat to the Cagarras, Angra and the city’s nights.

São Paulo, behind closed doors
Three, four or five days: D.O.M. and Tuju, galleries with a curator, a helicopter at sunset, Rosewood and Fasano, and the city’s nights.

Morocco, from the riad to the desert
Seven houses in Marrakech, the Atlas and Agafay, each one visited and published in the magazine, with three itineraries built end to end.

Fernando de Noronha, by appointment
The only destination in Brazil that caps how many people come in. Two fees, a fixed number of guesthouses, and two seas that do not work in the same months.
See Noronha

Patagonia, from Torres del Paine to Fitz Roy
Two countries, a window from November to March and a wind that rebuilds the day. Inclusive-rate houses settle the guide, the excursions and the meals, and that is what lets you swap the programme without losing the trip.

When to go
The right window for each destination.
- Rio de Janeiro
- All year. New Year and Carnival have their own pages, because the city changes pace on both dates and the best doors close early.
- São Paulo
- All year. Restaurants, galleries and concert halls never stop, and Grand Prix week in November needs booking well ahead.
- Morocco
- September to May; summer is very hot. Marrakech has direct flights from Paris, Lisbon and Madrid, with the Atlas and the Agafay desert an hour away.
- Fernando de Noronha
- September to November, with calm sea and an empty island. From December to March the swell reaches the inner sea and Cacimba do Padre becomes a surf beach. Stays are limited to 30 days.
- Patagonia
- November to March, peaking from December to February. The wind is strongest precisely in summer, and the way in is through Santiago or Buenos Aires.
