Trancoso delivers the most distinctly Brazilian week: a staffed house, sand underfoot and closed parties. Punta del Este is the most social, with the structure to receive large groups. St. Barths is the most international, with a full harbour and the island operating at capacity.
In all of them, what separates a good New Year from an ordinary night is the same: the right house, a table booked on the two nights that matter, and being on the list for the parties that are never announced.

Rio de Janeiro
Two and a half million people in white on the sand, and your night seen from above.
Rio is the biggest New Year in the world. The public party happens on Copacabana beach; the one that matters happens on the terraces, the rooftops and the boats facing the fireworks.
What decides the night is the suite, the party and the boat, arranged together.

Bahia, Brazil
Trancoso
The Quadrado at eight in the evening, when the light drops and the painted houses come on.
Trancoso is the most barefoot New Year on the list, and the hardest to arrange well. The good houses on the Quadrado and along the shore are few, and many are let for the whole season rather than by the week.
The parties that matter are few and closed, and so are the good tables on the 31st in the Quadrado restaurants. Without one, midnight becomes an ordinary night in a crowded town.

The Quadrado is grass and uneven, and the streets are dirt. That changes what makes sense to wear and how you move between the village and the beach.

Carneiros
A chapel on the sand and five festival nights by the sea.
Carneiros spends the year in silence and, in the last week of December, becomes the most international beach festival in Brazil, with an electronic line-up and names from Brazilian music.
The house is the bottleneck: good ones are few, by the river or facing the sea, and they go before the tickets do.

Santa Catarina, Brazil
Jurerê and Camboriú
The house on the island, and the South's biggest night an hour and a half away.
One package, two coasts: the week in Jurerê Internacional, with beach clubs and a gentle sea, and midnight in Balneário Camboriú, where more than a million people watch the fireworks.
The night carries on at Greenvalley, at P12 or in a penthouse in Barra Sul. What decides it is the car and the timing on the 31st.

Those who want a beach house, beach clubs by day and the best dance floor in the South at midnight.
- A house in Jurerê Internacional
- A table or box at Posh Club for the Grand Opening (25, 26, 28, 29 and 30 December) and Posh Réveillon Sunrise (1 January, from 4am), and midnight at Réveillon Safari, at Recanto Xanahi in Governador Celso Ramos (31 December, 10pm to 6am, also accessible by boat). Posh has no party of its own on 31 December

Maldonado, Uruguay
Punta del Este
The Argentine and Brazilian season in one place, with a European structure.
Punta is the most social on the list. José Ignacio holds the houses and the dinners; La Barra holds the night. Choosing between them changes the week entirely.
The place works well: good roads, serious restaurants and high-standard houses with staff. It is also the best on the list at receiving large groups.

Anyone travelling as a group who likes dining out every night and wants music at midnight.

What the season shows in Punta del Este.
The season does not end on 10 January, whatever people say. Occupancy has held near 95% to the end of the month in recent years.
French West Indies
St. Barths
A full harbour in Gustavia, with the whole island shaped around one night.
St. Barths is the most international on the list. The harbour fills with vessels arriving for New Year, and the island operates at capacity for ten days.
Anyone arriving without reservations will not eat at the good places or get into the parties. In exchange, it is the New Year with the greatest gathering of people from everywhere in one square kilometre.

What the season shows in St. Barths.
There is no central ticket for New Year. At midnight, fireworks rise from Fort Oscar as the vessels sound their horns together. A position in Gustavia harbour cannot be held remotely: anyone moored there needs to return by five in the afternoon to keep it.

Citizens of the United States, Canada and Australia need an e-visa for Brazil, in force since April 2025 and issued online, usually in a few days. Apply only on the official portal. For other passports, check before booking.
Arrival
Each destination is one airport and one transfer away. We meet you there and arrange the car, the connecting flight or the helicopter, on your timetable.
What to wear
In Rio, the tradition is to wear white on the 31st. In Trancoso, the Quadrado is grass and the streets are dirt, so flat shoes decide the night.
